Media authority is an important issue in the media activity. Many media try to achieve this position. In many events and activities, the audience refers to the media in a situation where that media is considered as a reference for them.
The present study focused on factors related to the news authority of domestic and foreign media from the perspective of news users and audiences. The purpose of recognizing these factors and dimensions of the issue in order to gain news authority, as an important factor in creating a position for the local media near the audience. This was assessed with media preferences, credibility factors, credibility factors and news publishing standards as the main axes of work. At the same time, the disadvantages of this issue that prevent access to news authority were also studied and the accuracy of these factors and their importance in obtaining news authority for domestic media was obtained. To achieve the objectives of this study, a survey method with a questionnaire technique was used. The general statistical population of the people of Tehran and the sampling method of this research has been the combined sampling method with two multi-stage and random techniques. The results showed that if the lost trust of the people in the local media could not be restored; Achieving news authority is difficult for the domestic media. The findings show that respondents now believe that positive news from foreign media and negative news from domestic media are more widely published. This issue shows that the history of foreign media activity and the continuation of existing damage in the course of domestic media performance has been the basis for the formation of this belief.
