In recent years, the means of mass communication have led to many changes in societies, and cinema, as a media tool with a narrative element, has made a significant contribution to creating these changes. Among them, we can mention the category of hero-making and heroism by cinematographers in various local, national, regional, and international communities. This research explores the concept of hero-making in cinema through Vogler’s hero theory and Stuart Hall’s representation views, focusing on Hatamikia’s films to analyze how heroes and heroism are portrayed in the context of holy defense cinema. To achieve this goal, we identified the statistical society and representative sample, utilized content analysis for coding, and categorized the necessary information. The collected data has been described and analyzed. The conclusion of this research indicates that Hatamikia has included the major components of hero-making in his works, although he has avoided some key stages such as “rejecting the invitation”, and has provided weaker treatment in some stages, such as “meeting the master” - which leads to the presence of the master archetype in the hero’s path - and “trials, allies, and enemies”. The removal and minimum payment in these stages have led to the reduction of power and influence in the personalities who had the talent of creating earthly and attainable heroes for society.
