This article aims to conduct a strategic meta-analysis of research related to persuasion and persuasion techniques and examines the strengths and weaknesses of these studies in three areas: theory, method, and cognitive results. This research is qualitative and its method is meta-analysis. The statistical population of this study was 30 Iranian studies related to persuasion, published in reputable scientific databases such as Magiran, Humanities, Normags, Sevilica, and Iran Science Net in the last two decades (2005-2015). 15 articles were selected using purposive sampling method with the criteria of three key elements: theory, method, and result. The articles were processed using the six-step method of Shel-Warath (1992). Strategic meta-analysis of this research showed that the most important strengths of the research are the diversity of theoretical approaches, the use of an integrated theoretical framework, the diversity of the statistical population, the diversity of sample size selection methods, attention to the level of microanalysis, and attention to various effects in the results section. Also, the weaknesses of the research are the use of several specific and repetitive theories and theoretical perspectives in the theoretical foundations, the poor use of the theoretical frameworks determined in the analysis of the findings, the weakness of explaining the dimensions of persuasion in theoretical discussions, the inability to properly use qualitative methods, the poor use of statistical tests, the weakness of measuring the validity and reliability of the tool, the failure to provide a desirable persuasion model, and the failure to provide new persuasion methods in the results. The results also showed that not only do the research conducted on persuasion methods show different and in some cases contradictory and dissimilar results, but the biggest weakness of these studies is the excessive republishing and repetition of persuasion models and theories on each other. In such a way that in the course of these studies, a new theoretical model or theory of persuasion is rarely found.
