Explaining the Generational Gap of Mothers and Daughters Based on Dimensions of Religiosity with an Emphasis on Cyberspace
Abstract
Background: The main purpose of the article is to conduct a sociological study of the group of mothers and daughters in terms of dimensions of religiosity with an emphasis on cyberspace, in such a way that, taking into account the generational gap, the dimensions of religiosity are examined and compared separately in the two groups under study, with regard to the role of cyberspace.
Method: The statistical population of this study is girls in the eighties and mothers in the fifties in Zarqan city, a part of Fars province.Using multi-stage cluster sampling, 313 people were selected as the sample population and divided into two groups of mothers and daughters. Using the survey method and questionnaire technique with items from the Likert scale and the opinion of experts, validity and reliability of the tool were confirmed through Cronbach's alpha and data collection was carried out. The statistical techniques of t-test, correlation coefficient and ANOVA were used to analyze the data. The theoretical model used is a combination of the opinions of Dobler, Glock and Stark.
Results: The results and findings of the study show that the tendency to be religious varies in the dimensions of religiosity, and the belief dimension is the strongest and the consequence dimension is the weakest dimensions of religiosity among mothers and daughters.
Conclusion:This study also showed that in comparison between daughters and mothers, in measuring total religiosity (five dimensions of religiosity), mothers are more religious than daughters, and daughters are stronger than mothers only in the cognitive dimension of religiosity, and mothers are stronger than daughters in the other four dimensions of religiosity (consequence, belief, ritual, and experiential). There is a significant and inverse relationship between the amount of use of social networks and religiosity
