Nowadays, media plays an important role in human life and has affected other institutions of society, including the family, in such a way that these institutions cannot perform their functions well without the media. In fact, in today's world, the traditional and old model of the family has changed and a new model has been born. This is a point that has occupied the minds of social media and family researchers, and in the meantime, there is a gap in the existence of a solid framework and a clear policy for the virtual life of families in social media. Therefore, the present study seeks to identify the requirements of the social media ecosystem for the Iranian-Islamic family.
The statistical population of this qualitative study included experts and scholars in the field of media with a history of active activity of at least 5 years and having research works (books, theses, numerous articles, etc.), from which 10 people were selected using a purposive sampling method and until theoretical saturation was reached. Also, the data collection tool was semi-structured interviews and the data obtained were processed using King's thematic analysis method. A total of 109 key points, 58 primary codes, 19 organized themes, and 4 overarching themes were obtained. Data analysis led to the identification of four categories of requirements: requirements for specialized content production at the family level, requirements for joint interpretation and refinement of content within the family framework, requirements for managing family media identity, and finally components of a family-centered ecosystem. The findings show that the transition from "individual presence in the media" to "family life in the media" is a practical necessity to preserve the family system and Iranian and Islamic values throughout life in the social media space.
